Turkey wins gold, bronze in gymnastics

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey won two gold and a bronze medal on Friday in the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup based on their performance on the qualifiers.

The 2020 World Cup finals scheduled for March in Baku was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Turkish Gymnastics Federation said in a statement the qualifiers rankings were the final results.

Umit Samiloglu won gold in pull up and Abdelrahman Magdy El Gamal‬ claimed gold in floor exercise.

Ferhat Arican bagged the bronze medal in parallel bars.

Since appearing in Wuhan, China, last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 185 countries and regions.

Data compiled by the U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University shows worldwide infections surpassed 1.6 million, with the death toll above 96,000, while more than 361,000 people have recovered so far.
