ANKARA (AA) – Unemployment rose 0.6 percentage point in June year-on-year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said in a statement Monday.
The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over rose to over 3.1 million in June 2016, an increase of 247,000 from the previous year, while the unemployment rate stood at 10.2 percent, the statement said.
Unemployment also saw a 0.8 percentage point rise from May 2016, according to the report.
June’s employment rate remained unchanged at 47.1 percent from the same period last year, but the country added 390,000 jobs.
The labor force participation rate also rose 0.3 percentage point in June year-on-year, to 52.4 percent.
The number of women participating in the workforce rose 0.7 percentage point from the previous year to 33 percent.
