Turkey: Treasury posts $6.3B cash deficit in December

ANKARA (AA) – The Turkish Treasury's cash balance posted a deficit of 46.7 billion Turkish liras ($6.3 billion) in December, the Treasury and Finance Ministry said Friday.

Cash revenues of the Treasury totaled 98.3 billion Turkish liras ($13.2 billion) last month.



Its expenditures, including interest payments of around 4.1 billion liras (some $551 million), hit some 146 billion liras ($19.7 billion).


Non-interest expenditures amounted to 141.9 billion liras ($19 billion), driving a 43.5 billion liras ($5.9 billion) deficit in the primary balance.


The Treasury received a total of 1 billion Turkish liras ($134 million) revenues from the privatization or fund income in December.


The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was around 7.4327 at the end of the last month.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
