ANKARA (AA) – An auction for national lottery licenses will be announced on Friday, and bids will be taken this August, said Finance Minister Naci Agbal.
The licenses from the National Lottery Directorate will last for 10 years, he told a press conference Wednesday.
“We plan to announce the tender for the national lottery games lottery on Friday, May 6,” he added. “Also in relation to this announcement, we plan to take bids on August 5.”
He stressed that due to nature of the sector, retaining principles of trust and transparency through all phases after the privatization is critical.
The National Lottery Directorate currently offers 6 different lottery games, with total revenues from ticket sales and other sources last year reaching 2.5 billion liras ($880 million).
