ANKARA (AA) – Turkey is “strong ” in terms of economic depth and volume, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said Friday.
“Turkey, having around $900 billion GDP, is strong in terms of economic depth and volume, ” Zeybekci said at the Anadolu Agency’s Editors' Desk in the capital Ankara.
Zeybekci said Turkey has no problem in general economic balances.
“It is obvious that Turkey sustained a certain degree of damage by the movements of [global] financial markets but no one should expect [Turkey] to be devastated, to be extremely affected in terms of economy, ” he added.
Zeybekci also said holding early elections on June 24 came as a relief for financial markets and reduced speculative risk.
