By Sarp Ozer

MARDIN, Turkey (AA) – One soldier was martyred after an explosive was detonated by terrorist PKK members in southeastern Turkey.

The Anadolu Agency correspondent in Mardin province said the incident happened when security forces attempted to enter a building booby-trapped with an improvised explosive device, or IED.

Six other soldiers were also wounded in the explosion that happened in the heart of the Nusaybin district, and the Turkish armed forces and police continue to carry out the operation against PKK terrorists.

Earlier on Monday, two Turkish soldiers were martyred and three wounded in a PKK roadside bomb attack in Nusaybin.

The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015; since then more than 400 security personnel have been martyred. Around 3,700 PKK terrorists have been killed within the same period.
