Turkey kills more than 860 Daesh in response to terror

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey has killed more than 860 Daesh terrorists in Syria since early January, a military source said Monday.

Artillery barrages and airstrikes were carried out within the international rules of law and were in response to Daesh attacks on Turkey, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Since Jan. 9, Turkey has killed 370 terrorists by a total of 5,330 artillery fire and another 492 in 167 air raids, as well as destroying weapons dumps and headquarters buildings, the source said.

Daesh has carried out two suicide bombings in Istanbul that targeted tourists since the beginning of the year and has regularly fired rockets across the border, killing at least 16 in the province of Kilis.

The latest air attack was conducted by anti-Daesh coalition jets early Monday, killing an unspecified number of terrorists and destroying arms caches, the source said.
