ANKARA (AA) – A member of Daesh terrorist organization, who was killed by Turkish security forces on June 25 while trying to cross the border from Syria, had planned to organize a suicide bomb attack in the Turkish capital Ankara or the southern province of Adana, security forces said on Thursday.
The man was identified as Muhammed Arab, who travelled from Damascus to the northeastern Syrian city of Al-Qamishli on the border with Turkey on June 21, security source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Arab was one of two Daesh terrorists killed while trying to cross the Turkey-Syria border when he did not heed warnings by Turkish security forces on June 25. The second killed Daesh member was identified as Muhanad Khalad.
Turkish police also detained nine people, suspected of being members of Daesh, in a series of raids in western coastal province of Izmir on Thursday morning.
