AMMAN (AA) – Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Murat Karagoz on Thursday met with Abdul Razak Arabiyat, director of Jordan’s Tourism Board, to discuss means of enhancing bilateral tourism, the Turkish Embassy in Amman said in a statement.
The meeting, which took place at the Tourism Board’s Amman headquarters, reviewed bilateral tourism activity, along with means of enhancing cooperation in the tourism field, according to the statement.
The Turkish cities of Istanbul, Antalya and Marmaris are regarded as the most popular vacation destinations for Jordanian tourists.
According to the embassy statement, Karagoz stressed Turkey’s desire to exchange experience and know-how with Jordan, especially in the fields of health and religious tourism.
Arabiyat, for his part, said that Turkey remains “a favorite destination for the Jordanian people”, adding that the Tourism Board was working closely with the Turkish Travel Agencies Association, Turkish Airlines and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
According to official statistics, some 300,000 Jordanian tourists visited Turkey last year, while 18,500 Turkish tourists visited the Hashemite Kingdom over the same period.
