Turkey joins Malaysia’s maritime, aerospace mega show

KUALA LUMPUR (AA) – Leading Turkish companies participated in the 14th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition that was launched in Malaysia’s Kedah state on Tuesday.

The exhibition will continue until March 24.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Malaysia Basak Turkoglu told Anadolu Agency several major Turkish companies, including Roketsan, Aselsan, Turkish Aerospace Industries and Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association attended the exhibition in Langkawi island.

Turkoglu said Turkish Deputy Defense Minister Suay Alpay led the Turkish delegation at the exhibition, which has been held since 1991.

A meeting on defense is also expected between delegations from Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Qatar during the exhibition, he added.

The LIMA is said to be the largest show of its kind within the Asia Pacific region. A total of 550 companies from 36 countries, including Turkey are attending the current exhibition.

Around 180,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition where 101 new aircrafts and 61 ships were being showcased.
