TEKIRDAG, Turkey (AA) – Turkey's opposition IYI (Good) Party deputy group chairman said on Wednesday that his party will not participate in an election alliance in upcoming local elections.

Speaking at a news conference in the northwestern Tekirdag province's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lutfu Turkkan said that in the June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections, the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) electorate had not supported the IYI Party.

“The IYI Party will enter elections with its own candidates and will not form an alliance with any party, ” Turkkan said.

Local elections will be held in March 2019 across Turkey.

The IYI Party had formed an election alliance with the CHP and the opposition Saadet (Felicity) Party for the June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections.
