By Ergun Haktaniyan</p> <p>KAYSERI, Turkey (AA) – Turkey's central Kayseri province on Wednesday hosted an exhibition where waste was recycled to produce daily use items.
The exhibition was organized by the Netherland's Embassy in Ankara and Abdullah Gul University.
The exhibition was curated by Jan Boelen, who also curated the prestigious 4th Istanbul Design Biennale.
In his keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Rector Ihsan Sabuncuoglu emphasized the importance of recycling waste for a sustainable future.
Deputy Dutch Ambassador Erik Weststrate noted that natural resources were diminishing in the world and said the reuse of waste was crucial.
Weststrate said that the Netherlands is increasingly generating energy from waste.
He also visited the display of recycled goods such as bags and slippers made from waste.
The exhibition is open for visitors at the rectorate building of the university.
