Turkey demands 8 coup soldiers’ extradition from Greece

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey demanded on Saturday the extradition of eight soldiers who fled to Greece after a coup attempt on late Friday.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu tweeted on Saturday: “We have requested the immediate surrender of the eight traitor soldiers who fled to Greece with a helicopter.”

Political asylum was requested by Greece from the eight crew members of the Turkish military helicopter that landed at the airport of Alexandroupoli “Demokritos”.

Police headquarters in Komotini confirmed to Anadolu Agency that the eight people were arrested by Greek police at 11.50 am local time.
