Turkey condemns German consulate attack in Afghanistan

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s foreign ministry on Friday strongly condemned Thursday’s truck bomb attack on a German consulate in Afghanistan.

“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack and convey our condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives and to the Afghan government and people, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded,” the ministry said in a statement.

At least seven people died and 129 others were injured after a suicide attacker rammed his explosive-laden truck into the wall of the German consulate in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

The Turkish ministry said these kinds of attacks would not affect the international community’s determination to contribute to Afghanistan’s security and development.

It added Turkey will “resolutely” maintain solidarity with its allies against terrorism.
