ANKARA (AA) – Turkey on Friday “strongly ” condemned the “heinous terrorist attack ” Thursday in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
At least 14 people were killed and more than six wounded when a car bomb exploded on the busiest street in Mogadishu.
Somali-based al-Qaeda-affiliated group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack on the Internet.
In a written statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry conveyed condolences “to the families who lost their loved ones and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded. ”
“Turkey will maintain its strong solidarity with the government and the brotherly people of Somalia in the fight against terrorism, ” the statement added.
Last October, at least 300 people died in a double car bombing in Mogadishu, the deadliest attack in modern Somali history.
