VAN, Turkey (AA) – Seven PKK/KCK terrorists were arrested on Thursday in anti-terror operations in eastern Turkey, according to security directorate.
During operations conducted simultaneously, five terrorists were arrested in eastern Van province and two others in southeastern Gaziantep and Diyarbakir provinces, security directorate in Van said in a statement.
One of the individuals arrested, identified by the initials S.K., is thought to be behind an attack that martyred a police officer in the southeastern Sirnak province in 2015, added the statement.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
