By Cebrail Caymaz

KILIS, Turkey (AA) – Border authorities arrested four foreign nationals in southeastern Turkey, near the border with Syria, on Sunday, security sources said.

Border guards in Kilis province spotted a group of people along the border with Syria.

Four people, who entered Turkey illegally, were caught in an operation, said the sources on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

They were referred to the provincial repatriation center.

Turkey has been a key transit point for irregular migrants who want to cross into Europe to start new lives, especially those fleeing war and persecution.

It hosts nearly 4 million refugees, including over 3.6 million Syrians, more than any other country in the world.
