Turkey: 2 people fined for owning pitbull, dogo

KAYSERI, Turkey (AA) – Two people in the central Turkish province of Kayseri were fined for owning the pitbull terrier and dogo dog breeds, which have been deemed dangerous.

A written statement from the Management of Forestry and Water Affairs of Kayseri province said the governorship sent teams to two locations in Gultepe and Gesi neighborhoods in Melikgazi district.

Two individuals were each fined 6,300 Turkish Liras ($1,079) for owning dog breeds that are banned by a law on animal welfare.

The dogs were sent to an animal shelter.
