Train collision kills five in Iran

TEHRAN (AA) – At least five people died and 11 were injured when two passenger trains collided in Iran’s Semnan province on Friday, according to the country’s state television channel.

Iran’s official IRINN network said the incident occurred at Haft-Khan station in the city of Shahroud, northern Iran.

Reports said a fire in the carriages could not be extinguished yet due to difficulty in accessing the scene.

Search-and-rescue teams have been dispatched to the area.
