Taliban, Daesh fight for turf in Afghanistan kills 19

KABUL, Afghanistan (AA) – At least 19 people were killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday as Taliban and pro-Daesh militants fought for turf, an official confirmed.

Chief of provincial security, Abdul Hafeez, informed Anadolu Agency the Taliban stormed a strong bastion of pro-Daesh militants at Sar Dara area of restive Darzaab district in Jawjan province bordering Turkmenistan, forcing them to flee.

Ongoing clashes since the past three weeks have killed 300 fighters on both sides, he added.

Meanwhile, local Salam Afghanistan radio reported up to 100 homes were torched in the district by both sides, forcing thousands of families to flee Darzaab and neighboring Qosh Tapa districts.
