KABUL, Afghanistan (AA) – At least two people were killed and four injured in a suicide attack in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, an official confirmed.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Anadolu Agency that a suicide attacker blew himself up near the office of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in the provincial capital Jalalabad at around 12 noon (0730GMT).
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
According to local Ashna Radio, the attack took place close to a protest camp outside the electoral office.
Located some 120 kilometers east of the capital Kabul, the Nangarhar province has been beset by pro-Daesh militancy for quite some time now based in strongholds in areas close to Pakistan’s restive tribal belt.
