ANKARA (AA) – A senior Turkish lawmaker on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attack in Austria’s capital Vienna in which at least three people died.

"If we want to live in unity and solidarity despite all our differences, we should resolutely continue our fight against all forms of terrorism," Mustafa Yeneroglu, a deputy from Istanbul representing the Democracy and Progress Party, told reporters in parliament.

Such incidents incite hatred, he said, adding: "The terror attack has not only targeted Vienna and Austria, but our culture of living together and all humanity."

He called for a united stand against those "who want polarize societies."

At least 15 people were also wounded after gunmen opened fire at different locations in the city centre Monday evening.

According to Austria’s Interior Minister Karl Nehammer, the assailant was a "sympathizer of the IS [Daesh] terror group."

The shooting comes days after a knife attack at a church in Nice, France that killed three people.
