Security forces confiscate 145 kg of heroin in Turkey

By Cuneyt Kemal Ozkok</p> <p>ANKARA (AA) – A total of 145 kilograms (319 pounds) of heroin was seized in Turkey on Tuesday, according to official sources.</p> <p>Turkish Trade Ministry said in a statement that 104 kilograms (229 pounds) of heroin was seized in Kapikule customs gate at the Turkish-Bulgarian border.</p> <p>The heroin was confiscated from two separate vehicles, the statement said, adding, the drivers of the vehicles — one Bulgarian and one Iraqi national — were arrested.</p> <p>Separately, in eastern Van province, police seized 41 kg (90 Ibs) of heroin and 10,000 euros when it stopped a minibus over suspicion, the provincial police headquarters said in a statement. </p> <p>Two people were arrested over the incident, it added.
