Saudi soldier killed in Shia-majority Eastern Province

RIYADH (AA) – One Saudi soldier was killed on Friday in an attack on a military vehicle in the city of Saihat in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

In a statement, the Saudi Interior Ministry said a military vehicle on patrol in Saihat had been attacked by unknown assailants in the early hours of Friday.

Saihat is located in the predominantly-Shia Qatif area of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

According to the ministry statement, one Saudi soldier — identified as Faysal Harbi — was killed in the attack, for which no group has yet claimed responsibility.
