JOHANNESBURG (AA) – Eleven people were killed and over 30 others injured in a bus crash in South Africa's northern Limpopo province, an administrative official told Anadolu Agency on Monday.

“The bus was heading to Gauteng province, when a tyre burst and the driver lost control, ” Matome Moremi spokesperson for the provincial transport department said.

Moremi said two critically injured people have been airlifted to Limpopo provincial hospital.

He added that 30 others were slightly injured.

The bus was traveling from Zambia to South Africa.

He said the passengers on board were Zambian nationals but the bus had a South African registration plate number.

“We tried to ask the survivors what they were going to do in Gauteng but they were too traumatized to speak, ” Moremi said.

“We have a zero tolerance for those who do not respect road rules, ” he added.
