ISTANBUL (AA) – The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will lift the suspension of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) by March 15, the authority announced Friday.

The reinstatement decision “under strict conditions ” was taken after a 29-month period of suspension, and the Russian body now meets 69 of the 70 reinstatement criteria set by the international body, it said in a statement.

As a result of the decision, Russia should now be able to compete at 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

The decision came after the country was suspended for more than two years for widespread doping.
