Rockets fired from Syria kill 2 in Turkey

KILIS, Turkey (AA) – Two rockets fired across the border from Syria killed two people and injured four others on Friday in Turkey’s southeastern border province of Kilis.

Reporting from the scene, an Anadolu Agency correspondent said that one of the rockets landed in an empty field behind the Kilis courthouse and the other hit Acibadem Street of the Yavuz Sultan Selim neighborhood.

Four people suffered injuries from the rockets and were rushed to the hospital, according to a hospital sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because he/she was not authorized to speak to the press.

Police also strengthened security measures in the region.

Kilis, which lies six kilometers (four miles) from the Syrian border, has been hit by several rockets fired from Syria in recent months.
