Rocket projectile injures one in SE Turkey

KILIS, Turkey (AA) – A rocket projectile, apparently fired from Syria, injured one person in Turkey’s southeastern border province Kilis on Sunday.

An Anadolu Agency correspondent reporting from the scene said the rocket landed in a mosque 100 meters away from the Governor’s Office building while Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan was present.

The injured was rushed to the hospital.

On Sunday, at least 16 people were injured by two rockets reportedly fired from Syria.

Police increased the security measures in the region.

Kilis lies 6 kilometers (4 miles) from the Syrian border and has been repeatedly hit by rockets fired from Syria. Eight people have been killed in the city by rockets since last Monday.
