BERLIN (AA) – A new report by Transparency International, the global coalition against corruption, said that 50 million people across the Middle East and North Africa have paid bribes in 2015.

The report, which was released Tuesday, is based on a survey in Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Yemen and Algeria.

According to the report, 61 percent of those surveyed in the region felt that corruption has increased in their countries in the last year, while 68 percent feel their government is “doing poorly in the fight against corruption”.

Lebanon topped the list with 92 percent of people saying corruption has risen in the country.
