Prominent Islamic scholar visits Bukhari's tomb

SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan (AA) – A prominent Syrian Islamic scholar visited Imam Muhammad al-Bukhari's mausoleum in Uzbekistan Wednesday.

Muhammed Avvame, who was welcomed by many local scholars in the city of Samarkand, said Uzbek people are “right to be proud for having a scholar like Bukhari in Uzbekistan “.

He recited several sayings of Bukhari from his books to children who study Islam.

Avvame, one of the most prominent scholars of Hadith, was born in Aleppo, Syria on Jan. 24, 1940.

After completing his studies at Shabaniyye Madrasah, Avvame got into the Faculty of Islamic Sharia’a at Damascus University and graduated in 1967.

He is the director of the center of “Dar al-hadith al-Avvamiyyah”, which has 20 branches in 13 countries.

One of the prominent students of Syrian Islamic scholar Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghudda, Avvame has 35 works in different branches of Islamic sciences, including critical edition books. He currently works as an advisor to the rector at Ibn Haldun University.

Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghudda was born in 1917 in Aleppo and died in 1997 in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh.

He taught Islamic sciences at universities in various countries, including Syria, Sudan and Saudi Arabia. He also has more than 70 works, including on Arabic language and literature and history.
