MUS, Turkey (AA) – A Turkish policeman was martyred and two others were wounded when a roadside bomb struck a police vehicle on the Mus-Varto road in eastern Mus province Wednesday, an unnamed local security source said.

According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, the PKK terrorist group carried out the attack.

The wounded soldiers were rushed to the Mus State Hospital, the source said.

Security forces launched an operation in the area in the aftermath of the attack, it added.

The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015; since then more than 400 security personnel have been martyred. Around 3,700 PKK terrorists have been killed in the same period.
