ANKARA (AA) – Recruitment of children is one of the many crimes of the PKK/YPG against humanity, according to the Turkish deputy prime minister on Friday.
On his official Twitter account, Hakan Cavusoglu tweeted to stress the war crimes of the terror group, using #WarCrimesOfYPG in his tweets, which became a hot topic among social media users.
“The recruitment of children, which is one of the six grave violations identified by the UN resolutions, is just one of the crimes against humanity committed by PKK/YPG,” Cavusoglu said in one of his tweets written in English.
Stating that PKK/YPG was no different than Daesh, he said it proved the fact many times “by brainwashing young children and forcing them to become suicide bombers”.
“PKK/YPG has a bloody record of using land mines and toxic gas, using civilians as human shields, and targeting hospitals, refugee camps and civilian residential areas, ” he added.
He went on to say: “Hosting 3.5 million Syrians, Turkey will continue to be the sole guarantor of the law and future of the entire region.”
Launched on Jan. 20, the Turkish-led Operation Olive Branch aims to clear Afrin, northwestern Syria — just across the Turkish border — of PYD/YPG/PKK and Daesh terrorists.
The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, has killed nearly 40,000 people, including women and children in its more than three-decade long campaign against Turkey.
