By Fatih Hafiz Mehmet</p> <p>ANKARA (AA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday said PKK terror group has “oppressed Kurds the most" throughout the history.</p> <p>Speaking at an election rally in southeastern Diyarbakir province, Erdogan said the "only" thing that Diyarbakir needs is to get rid of the PKK's "shadow" in the province.</p> <p>"PKK is the group that has oppressed Kurds the most throughout the history," Erdogan emphasized.</p> <p>Erdogan said his government has realized works which protected the rights, culture and dignity of the Kurds.</p> <p>“We are struggling for our Kurdish brothers not to become a tool of imperialists’ plan neither in Iraq nor in Syria,” he added.
Erdogan said a total of 41 billion Turkish liras ($7.5 billion) have so far been invested in Diyarbakir during his Justice and Development (AK) Party’s tenures.
The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years and has been responsible for the death of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
