VAN, Turkey (AA) – PKK terrorists martyred a village guard in eastern Turkey on Friday, according to security sources.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media, said Ali Ogun was driving a village minibus when the PKK intercepted it in the Catak district of Van province.

The terrorists removed passengers and the driver from the minibus. Ogun was then taken away and martyred.

Ogun’s body was later taken to Catak State Hospital. An air-backed operation was launched to find the terrorists.

Friday’s attack follows an incident late on Thursday when seven village guards, one specialist sergeant and one soldier were martyred in another PKK assault in the eastern province of Agri.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
