HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) – A lorry driver was killed by a PKK roadside bomb in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province on Monday, a security source has said.

Speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, the source told Anadolu Agency that PKK terrorists detonated the bomb in the Semdinli district as the lorry passed by.

Security forces have launched an operation in the region to catch the perpetrators.

According to officials, more than 5,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq since the group resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the state in July last year.
