Pandemic claims more lives in Kuwait, UAE

ISTANBUL (AA) – The coronavirus pandemic continued to claim more lives in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday.

The Kuwaiti Health Ministry said four deaths and 770 infections were recorded as well as 624 recoveries over the past 24 hours.

The total count in the Gulf state now rose to 65,149 cases, including 442 deaths, and 55,681 recoveries.

In the UAE, the Health Ministry confirmed two deaths, additional 369 cases and 395 recoveries.

In a statement, the ministry said the new figure brings the number of confirmed cases to 59,546, including 442 deaths, and 55,681 recoveries.

Since first appearing in China last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 188 countries and regions. The US, Brazil, and Russia are currently the countries hardest hit in the world.

The pandemic has killed over 654,300 people worldwide, with more than 16.49 million confirmed cases including recoveries exceeding 9.59 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
