One soldier martyred in SE Turkey

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) – One soldier was martyred and 26 people injured in a bomb attack that hit a gendarmerie headquarters in the southeastern Diyarbakir province’s Dicle district late Sunday, unnamed security sources said.

According to the sources, at least 26 injuries, including civilians were reported. Three of them, who were transferred to Diyarbakir Military Hospital, are in critical condition.

Military residential buildings in the area were also damaged in the blast, the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, said.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Supreme Board of Radio and Television has imposed a media ban on broadcasting pictures and video footage from the scene of the blast.

According to a statement issued by the Board, the ban includes live broadcasts from the blast site, footage of the blast and its aftermath.

Security forces who headed to the Dicle district after the blast reportedly came under attack, sources added.
