<p>By Mehmet Nuri Ucar and Hussein Mahmoud Ragab Elkabany</p> <p> </p> <p>BRUSSELS (AA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Thursday urged the international community to urgently help Syrian refugees and back a political solution to the crisis.</p> <p> <p>Secretary-General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, speaking at a conference regarding Syria and the region held in Brussels, said the attempts to find a political solution to the crisis should be supported.</p> <p> <p>The civil war which has been ongoing since 2011 led to the deaths of about a million people and approximately 13 million found themselves in a needy position.</p> <p> <p>"Some 11 million people were forced to leave their places," he said, calling on the global community to create an "urgent fund" to help refugees.</p> <p> <p>Al-Othaimeen pointed out that the OIC supported a political solution that would contribute to establishing a Syrian state based on pluralism, democracy and civil system, respecting human rights.</p> <p> </p> <p>*Writing by Ali Murat Alhas</p> <p> </p> <p> </p><br>
