Northern Cyprus gets new health minister

LEFKOSA, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (AA) – Ali Pilli was removed as health minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Saturday.

Prime Minister Ersan Saner has appointed Unal Ustel, who was serving as minister for public works and transport, as the new health minister, according to a government statement.

Resmiye Canaltay will take over as the public works and transport minister, the statement added.

The new appointments have been approved by President Ersin Tatar.

Thanking Pilli for his services, Prime Minister Saner said: “The COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the whole world for about a year, has significantly affected life in our country. At this point, I found it appropriate to change the cabinet, as I think a change of duty will be beneficial for both Mr. Pilli and our country.”

He expressed confidence that Ustel and Canaltay will successfully manage their new responsibilities and excel in their respective roles.
