Italian teen Pilato sets new 50m breaststroke world record

ISTANBUL (AA) – Italy's Benedetta Pilato broke the women’s 50 meters breaststroke world record in the semifinals of the European Swimming Championships on Saturday.

"The Italian swam a 29.30, shaving a significant 0.20 seconds off Lilly King's 2017 record of 29.50," the official website of the Olympic Games said.

The 16-year-old swimmer also broke the World Junior record, Championship record, Italian National record, and European record in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
