GAZA STRIP, Palestine (AA) – Israeli navy arrested two Palestinian fishermen off northern Gaza’s shores Friday morning, according to a Palestinian union official.
Palestinian Fishermen’s Union head Nizar Ayyash told Anadolu Agency navy personnel arrested two brothers — Saddam and Uday al-Sultan — while they were sailing six miles off Gaza’s Beit Lahia; their boat was also seized.
Israeli military, so far, has not released any statement on the alleged arrests.
Israeli armed forces often target boats of Palestinian fishermen, resulting in injury and arrests on the pretext that the “allowed” fishing area of six nautical miles had been exceeded.
