GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – A delegation from Palestinian group Islamic Jihad set out for Egypt from the blockaded Gaza Strip on Monday for talks with Egyptian officials.

“The delegation crossed the Rafah border crossing into Egypt,” the media office of the Rafah crossing said in a statement.

The delegation will join Secretary-General of the group, Ziad al-Nakhala, who arrived in Egypt last week for talks with Egyptian officials on a ceasefire deal with Israel.

Last month, Israel launched airstrikes in the Gaza Strip following rocket fire from the Palestinian territory. The violence, however, came to a halt under an Egypt-brokered ceasefire deal between Gaza-based resistance factions and Israel.
