Islamic Jihad chief in Egypt for Israel ceasefire talks

GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, Ziad al-Nakhala, arrived in Egypt on Wednesday for talks with Egyptian officials, according to a group spokesman.

“The talks will focus on Palestinian developments,” Musab al-Breim told Anadolu Agency.

A well-informed Palestinian source said al-Nakhala’s discussions in Egypt will tackle a ceasefire deal with Israel.

Earlier this month, Israel launched several airstrikes in the Gaza Strip following rocket fire from the Palestinian territory. At least seven Palestinians were martyred in the Israeli attacks, while an Israeli soldier was reportedly killed.

The violence, however, came to a halt under an Egypt-brokered ceasefire deal between Gaza-based resistance factions and Israel.
