DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) – An Indian Air Force aircraft flew 23 Bangladeshis Thursday from China’s Wuhan city, the epicenter of the deadly novel coronavirus, to Delhi, said local media reports.
“The Bangladeshi returnees will be kept quarantined for two weeks along with Indian nationals who have been brought back on the same special flight to Delhi,” local private television channel Ekushey TV reported, citing Mohammad Imran, the high commissioner of Bangladesh to India.
After 14 days of close monitoring, the return of the Bangladeshi nationals from India to Dhaka will begin based on the quarantine report.
The Bangladesh Directorate General of Health Services in its latest report said that to date, no nationals or foreigners currently staying in Bangladesh have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Besides China, the coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, has spread to more than 30 other countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Singapore, France, Russia, Spain, Italy, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and India.
COVID-19 has claimed more than 2,800 lives worldwide, including more than 2,700 in China alone.
The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak an international health emergency and said the global risk level remains high.
