ERBIL, Iraq (AA) – Hungarian Defense Minister Istvan Simicsko was received by Erbil Governor Nevzad Hadi at Iraq’s Erbil International Airport on Wednesday.
At a joint press conference, Simicsko stressed his country’s ongoing support for Kurdish peshmerga forces, saying: “We all are concerned with the fight against terrorism; 66 countries are taking part in the international coalition against Daesh.”
“We thank peshmerga forces for their valiant performance against the terrorist group,” he asserted.
Simicsko added: “Hungarian troops sent to the region have accomplished a lot. Hungary currently has 150 military experts as part of the coalition.”
He went on to promise stepped-up Hungarian support for peshmerga forces.
“We’re also treating injured peshmerga troops in hospitals in Hungary,” the defense minister said.
