TRIPOLI, Libya (AA) – The current head of Libya's High Council of State, Khalid al-Mishri, was re-elected for a third term on Sunday.

Some 132 of the council's 135 members participated in the ballot, and Mishri received 73 votes.

Muhammad Baki was elected Mishri's first vice president, while Safvan al-Masuri the second vice president.

Mishri was first elected to this post in April 2018, and then in April 2019.

The council advises Libya's UN-recognized government, which launched Operation Peace Storm against warlord Khalifa Haftar's forces earlier this year to counter attacks on the capital Tripoli.
