TBILISI, Georgia (AA) – The number of people who died due to the H1N1 virus in Georgia has increased to 10, the Health Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry said that some hospitals across the country, as well as five hospitals in capital Tbilisi, have begun working 24-hours.
Davit Sergeenko, Georgia's Minister of Health, Labor, and Social Affairs, said that a total of 640 people have been treated across the country for the virus while 39 people were in intensive care.
Georgia's Education Ministry extended school holidays from Jan. 15 to Jan. 18 due to increased cases of H1N1 virus.
The H1N1 virus, also called swine flu, is a respiratory disease caused by influenza that broke out in 2009 and was first reported in Mexico.
