ANKARA (AA) – German football heavyweights Bayern Munich won this season's Bundesliga title with five matches to spare on Saturday.
Bayern Munich beat Augsburg 4-1 in an away match in the league and announced their title.
On top of the league, Bayern Munich increased their points to 72 in standings and won their sixth consecutive title in Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich claimed German league title for 28 times in history.
Former Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm congratulated the team for the success.
“Congratulations on the sixth German Championship in a row, Bayern Munich! Great match and a completely deserved title, ” Lahm said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich's French left winger Franck Ribery, 35, said, “It is always a special moment. We work hard to be able to celebrate the title with the fans. ”
