PARIS (AA) – France on Wednesday reported 509 more deaths from coronavirus, taking the death toll to 4,032, the health minister said.
A total of 56,989 are infected in the country, with 6,000 in intensive care, said Jerome Salomon.
Prime Minister Edouard Phillipe said Wednesday that the lockdown, which has entered its third week, could be lifted in stages, based on ages and test results.
The global death toll from the virus has surpassed 45,400, with more than 905,200 cases confirmed, according to data compiled by U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.
Despite the severity of the virus, most people experience mild symptoms and recover in due time.
