WASHINGTON (AA) – Former US Vice President Mike Pence had a pacemaker procedure at a hospital in the state of Virginia on Wednesday, according to a statement on Thursday.
"Over the past two weeks, Vice President Pence experienced symptoms associated with a slow heart rate and, upon consultation with his doctors, underwent a procedure yesterday at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia, to implant a pacemaker," it said.
"The routine surgery was successful, and he is expected to fully recover and return to normal activity in the coming days," it added.
The 61-year-old thanked the hospital's doctors and staff.
"My family has been truly blessed by the work of these dedicated healthcare professionals," said Pence.
